Natural Care
Recently an insider tip from beauty bloggers and skin care experts, acid peels, also known as chemical peels, can now be found in the bathroom of many of us - and meanwhile natural cosmetics are able to keep up at eye level! Acid peels are the gentle, but even more effective counterpart to mechanical scrub peels, without any aggressive abrasion of skin cells. They stimulate our skin's own renewal process and are basically suitable for anyone who wants to maintain healthy and young skin - regardless of the individual skin type. The skin is freed from old skin cells and can thus optimally absorb the active ingredients from the subsequent care.
However, it is important to choose the right texture: exfoliating lotions are more suitable for dry skin, where as gels and liquid textures are mainly suitable for combination to oily skin. Depending on the texture and concentration, acid peels are used in different frequency, may be left on the skin or must be rinsed off.
For at home use, chemical peels distinguish between the three most known types of acids:
AHA: Alpha hydroxy acids such as glycolic acid
Depending on their concentration, they are among the effective superficial peels. AHA scrubs are best for mature or normal skin.
BHA: Beta-hydroxy acids such as salicylic acid
They are ideal for oily to blemished skin, as they also remove sebum from the skin pores.
PHA: Polyhydroxy acids such as gluconolactone and lactobionic acid
Thanks to the large molecular structure, they are significantly more gentle than AHA and BHA and are therefore ideal for sensitive skin.
Never forget: Since all acid peels increase the photosensitivity of the skin, they should rather be used in the evening. It is also advisable to apply sunscreen the next day - regardless of whether the sun is shining.
