Many things can be behind hair loss: the hair cycle is generally very fragile, external circumstances such as mechanical pressure from headgear and tension from tight braids or internal factors such as stress, hormone fluctuations (e.g. pregnancy or age-related) or a corona infection stress the hair follicles and can lead to hair loss. In most cases, however, genetic factors are responsible for hair loss. In men, this can be seen in the receding hairline and at the back of the head. In women, the hair around the crown of the head thins out. Our mind and body, including our skin and hair, are inextricably linked.
It is therefore not surprising that stress is the second most common cause of hair loss after genetics. Stress influences the fragile hair cycle and scalp circulation through certain hormones and signalling substances. However, an unhealthy diet can also lead to deficiency symptoms and thus to hair loss. A healthy, balanced diet is therefore essential for good hair growth. But what else can be done besides a healthy lifestyle or medical treatments?
Does caffeine, ginseng or arginine help against hair loss?
The stimulant caffeine or ginseng stimulates blood circulation, which strengthens and stimulates the hair roots. However, sufficient exposure time, e.g. in the form of a hair tonic or scalp serum, is necessary for the product to be effective. The amino acid arginine is said to have a similar property.
Is rosemary oil the miracle cure?
On TikTok, rosemary is currently being celebrated as a home remedy for hair loss. Rosemary oil also has a circulation-promoting effect on the scalp. However, its effect on hair growth has not been proven. In addition, the allergy potential of essential oils should not be underestimated.
Scalp massage or scrubs
Blood circulation to the scalp is central to healthy hair growth. This can easily be promoted by a regular scalp massage with a serum, hair tonic or weekly scalp peelings with a brush or special exfoliating products.
So it's best to care for your scalp with a scalp serum and a massage as part of your evening beauty routine.
