Our approach

The Mibelle Group belongs to the most sustainable retailer in the world. Even during his lifetime, Gottlieb Duttweiler, Migros’ founder and a bona fide pioneer, called on people to use resources sparingly so the next generation would have a world worth living in. That’s why we’re committed to optimising all environmental protection measures as part of a continuous improvement process in order to reduce our impact on the environment.

Responsible production, research and management has characterised the Mibelle Group from the outset. We have thus ascribed to a comprehensive vision of sustainability and a corresponding commitment.

We not only help our customers to obtain full services optimally tailored to their requirements – sustainability is part of the conviction at our company and offers our customers an expedient added value.

02

Our targets

In line with the Paris Climate Agreement, we are committed to limiting global warming to 1.5°C. That is why we joined the internationally recognized Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) in 2019 and have set ourselves science-based climate targets based on our greenhouse gas balances. These were officially validated by SBTi in 2022. Our goal: By 2050 at the latest, the Migros Group aims to emit no more greenhouse gases with its net zero strategy. Further pioneering ambitions will guide us in stages until 2040.

From 2040, we will only process sustainable raw materials.

From 2040, we will only work with renewable energies.

From 2040, we will only work with closed ecological cycles.

Net zero: By 2050 at the latest, we will no longer emit any greenhouse gases.

New: Add-Water cleaning products

back

Just in time for spring cleaning, the new sustainable Add-Water cleaning products from the Migros Plus private label are arriving at the Migros stores in Switzerland. And this is how Add Water works: The consumer mixes the concentrate from the store with tap water at home - and thus protects the environment.

The Mibelle Group has developed an initial range of add-water products for Migros. This includes a dishwashing detergent, a glass cleaner and a bathroom cleaner of the Migros Plus «Oeco-Power» brand. The fact that the consumer mixes the concentrate himself with tap water at home has many advantages:

  • 90 % less plastic consumption thanks to refill bags
  • Less weight to lug home
  • Simple mixing with tap water
  • Usual strong cleaning power with Migros Plus «Oeco-Power»
  • Less CO2 emissions thanks to reduced packaging waste, production in Switzerland and lower transport weight, as water does not have to be transported unnecessarily

The liquid concentrates with natural-based ingredients can be mixed in a ratio of 1:2 (150 ml concentrate 300 ml water = 450 ml product).

Jon Forrer, Product Manager, and Evelyn Schmitz, Project Manager Business Development, from the Mibelle Group development team are pleased with the market launch at Migros: "We were able to determine during the development process that consumers will only permanently switch to a new concept if the product performance and application do not differ significantly from the existing product. We have achieved these goals with the new Add Water products, and we are now eagerly awaiting sales. Other Mibelle Group customers are also showing great interest in the idea of add-water products."
